ANGIE FAIEQ
“Spring two-piece set”
I originally used a summer dress that was two sizes too big for me. I used sewing and dying skills throughout the process. This is not what I had originally expected but I changed my plan because my materials were limited. So, I cut the dress in half and used an old skirt I had to have an idea of how much to hem. I sewed the hem and used these extra ribbons I had to cinch the waist. I had to dye the ribbons black to match the set. I cut holes in the side of the skirt to feed the ribbon through and cinch the waist to fit me. Then, for the top, I hemmed the bottom and cut a slit up the back to tie together to fit my torso. Over the course of the workshop, I’ve become a lot more inspired to upcycle old clothes and this was a perfect opportunity. The set isn’t perfect but I tried and I learned new skills along the way.
